The rainforest is one of the most essential and oldest living ecosystem surviving for about seventy million years. Maximum rainfall in the region is the main feature of a rainforest. They are present in every continent except Antarctica. Tropical rainforests are located between Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, temperate rainforests lie around coastal mountainous areas.
There are various benefits of the rain forest. They protect against soil erosion, floods and drought. Endangered animals such as the rhino, orangutans, and jaguars inhabit the area. The plants are used to create medicine, anti-cancer drugs, beauty products and food. Medicinal plants are good in the treatment of asthma, arthritis, malaria and heart disease.
Cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, ginger cocoa, and coffee beans also grow in these dense forests.
Other produces twenty percent of oxygen and stores a huge amount of carbon dioxide that reduces greenhouse gas emissions, regulating the climate to a vast extent.
Industrial and agricultural development have destroyed some of the rainforests. Many conservation groups and governmental organization are working together to save the world’s natural resources.
